Myths of the Israeli war against lebanon

* that Hizbullah "started" the war by capturing two Israeli soldiers rather than that Israel maintained a hostile and provocative posture for the previous six years by daily sending its warplanes and spy drones into Lebanese airspace;
* that Hizbullah's launching of rockets into Israel was an act of aggression, even though they were fired after, and in response to, Israel's massive bombing of civilian areas in Lebanon;
* that Hizbullah, unlike Israel, used the local civilian populaton as human shields, even though Israel's continual and comprehensive aerial spying on south Lebanon produced almost no evidence of this;
* that Hizbullah, not Israel, targeted civilians, despite a death toll that suggests the exact opposite;
* and that Hizbullah's arming by Iran is entirely illegitimate, even though the weapons were used to defend Lebanon from a long-prepared Israeli attack, while Israel has an absolute and unchallengeable right to receive its arsenal from the US, even though those armaments have been used offensively, mostly against Lebanese and Palestinian civilian populations.

Church-going folks = Obeese folks?

Ferraro's most recent study, published in the June issue of the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, is a follow-up to a study he published in 1998, where he found there were more obese people in states with larger populations of folks claiming a religious affiliation than elsewhere -- particularly in states with the most Baptists.
So it's not surprising that Ferraro's latest study found that about 27 percent of Baptists, including Southern Baptists, North American Baptists, and Fundamentalist Baptist, were obese.

From Norman Solomon

More Americans are aware that the "war on terror" - as an umbrella excuse for making war - is a bunch of lethal baloney. But can anyone point to a falloff of active US militarism as that realization has dawned? Did the Pentagon's warfare dissipate in the slightest while disdain from mainstream anti-Bush pundits went through the roof?

Looking ahead, does anyone credibly think that Democratic Party leaders can be relied on to stand up against rationales for a huge air assault on Iran - in the face of predictable claims that a massive attack has become necessary to forestall the development of nuclear weapons by a Tehran regime that supports the "terrorist" Hezbollah organization and has pledged the destruction of Israel?

Implanted Chips in our troops?

Implanted Chips in Our Troops?

A Florida company wants to get under the skin of 1.4 million U.S. servicemen and women.
VeriChip Corp, based in Delray Beach, Fla., and described by the D.C. Examiner as "one of the most aggressive marketers of radio frequency identification chips," is hoping to convince the Pentagon to allow them to insert the chips, known as RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) chips under the skin of the right arms of U.S. servicemen and servicewomen to enable them to scan an arm and obtain that person’s identity and medical history. The chips would replace the legendary metal dog tags that have been worn by U.S. military personnel since 1906.

uncomfortable truth about israel

Larry Johnson, Blogging at No Quater, has some hard hitting truth about the state of Israel. The one that caught my attention was this one.

"I realize Israeli officials will justify the kidnapping as the capture of a wanted terrorist and the attack in Lebanon as an effort to prevent Hizbullah from rearming. Unfortunately for Jerusalem's sake, these acts feed the image of Israel as a renegade state that operates outside the normal boundaries of international law."

Go and read the entire post.

Bush's hyping the terrorist threat

or so says Larry Johnson.

From the article:

The initial story out of London gave the average traveler the clear impression that Muslim terrorists were thwarted at the last minute from planting bombs made of liquid explosives aboard aircrafts. Since then, the facts about the story have shifted significantly. It is true that some of the people in the custody of British and Pakistani security forces had thought about bombing airplanes. But there is substantial evidence that the plot was far from implementation.

First, no evidence has emerged that the plotters had in hand a functioning prototype of the device they wanted to take onboard a plane. That's an important point. The Bojinka plot of 1994 - when Ramsi Yousef, Khalid Sheikh Mohamad, Walid Khan, and Hakim Murad planned to blow up 12 jumbo jets over the Pacific - was preceded by Ramsi Yousef's December 1994 success in testing a bomb that exploded on a Philippine Air flight and killed a Japanese man. Yousef, Mohamad, and Murad are in jail. Walid Khan is dead. No one from that group is around to provide technical advice on the amount of explosive required to down a plane.

Military Recruiters sexually abusing their recruits

More than 100 young women who expressed interest in joining the military in the past year were preyed upon sexually by their recruiters. Women were raped on recruiting office couches, assaulted in government cars and groped en route to entrance exams.

I'm not surprised by this. if you've carefully followed the behavior of the military women and men since they were put in the spotlight by the Iraq war, then you'll know that the u.s armed forces has some of the worst scums this earth has to offer.

Two early posts

1st-Go and read Jeffrey Chester's Congress Poised to Unravel the Internet, so that you can be informed about this republican-led congress is poised to allow a few big cable companies to monopolize the internet.

Here's an excerpt:

The telecommunications reform bill now moving through Congress threatens to be a major setback for those who hope that digital media can foster a more democratic society. The bill not only precludes net neutrality safeguards but also eliminates local community oversight of digital communications provided by cable and phone giants. It sets the stage for the privatized, consolidated and unregulated communications system that is at the core of the phone and cable lobbies' political agenda.

2nd-Tony Blair is said be feeling betrayed by Bush over the Israeli massacre of Lebanon. I dont believe this one bit. After almost six years of backing some of the worsts and most harmful policies that can be found in the devil's playbook, Tony Blair is finally realizing what the rest of the world has known for years. Mr. Blair, is too late. You have allowed a bunch of political thugs drag you in the mud and there's no way you can clean the stench (or the smell) off. If Tony Blair really wants to save his legacy, he should withdraw every british troop from Iraq, resign his posts and allow himself to be put in jail. That's what a true man of honor would do.

I know, I know....a brother can dream, you know.

Rememeber the Qana Massacre

From www.counterpunch.org

Two days ago, driving toward the village of Qana, we saw men at work, creating neatly aligned rows of rectangular cement structures that would soon be ready for burials. On foot, we entered Qana, thinking we should at least identify the site where a massacre had taken place when, on July 30, an Israeli bomb hit a building that sheltered children as they slept. It took five hours for ambulances to reach them. Statistics differ, but the most recent Human Rights Watch report estimated that twenty-three were killed.
Turning a corner, we saw men arranging white plastic chairs for guests who came to mourn with family members in the funeral tradition. The men sat in front of one home. Women were next door.

This is chilling and scary.

From Today's NYTimes:

— An influential federal panel of medical advisers has recommended that the government loosen regulations that severely limit the testing of pharmaceuticals on prison inmates, a practice that was all but stopped three decades ago after revelations of abuse.

Think about this: What's the racial make up of the overwhelming majority of the prison population in the United States? Now put 2 + 2 together. I wont do it for you.

How's that liberation of Iraq going?: Soldiers are coming back sick

As the carnage in Iraq continues with the deaths of more than 47 Iraqis and two american soldiers, we have this article in From the Boston Globle, detailing how more and more troops are coming back from Iraq sick.

New York - It takes at least 10 minutes and a large glass of orange juice to wash down all the pills - morphine, methadone, a muscle relaxant, an antidepressant, a stool softener. Viagra for sexual dysfunction. Valium for his nerves.

Four hours later, Herbert Reed will swallow another 15 mg of morphine to cut the pain clenching every part of his body. He will do it twice more before the day is done.

Since he left a bombed-out train depot in Iraq, his gums bleed. There is more blood in his urine, and still more in his stool. Bright light hurts his eyes. A tumor has been removed from his thyroid. Rashes erupt everywhere, itching so badly they seem to live inside his skin. Migraines cleave his skull. His joints ache, grating like door hinges in need of oil.

There is something massively wrong with Herbert Reed, though no one is sure what it is. He believes he knows the cause, but he cannot convince anyone caring for him that the military's new favorite weapon has made him terrifyingly sick.

In the sprawling bureaucracy of the Department of Veterans Affairs, he has many caretakers. An internist, a neurologist, a pain-management specialist, a psychologist, an orthopedic surgeon and a dermatologist. He cannot function without his stupefying arsenal of medications, but they exact a high price.

The U.N resolution is a white-wash piece of

@#%&*. Of course, that's my own language; but according to Michel Chossudovsky, the resoution fails to even acknowledge that Israel launched an illegal War against the people of Lebanon.

a) The resolution is in blatant violation of the UN charter and international law. It fails to acknoweldge that Israel has launched an all out war on Lebanon in violation of international law. It describes the bombing and destruction of an entire country as as a "conflict between Hizbollah and Israel". The word "war" does not appear in the text of the Resolution.

b) Referring to the two abducted Israeli soldiers, the Resolution states that Hizbollah was responsible for launching "the attack on Israel on 12 July". It denies the fact, amply documented, that an all out war against Lebanon had been in the planning stages well before July 12.

c) The historical causes of the war are denied. The abduction of the two Israeli soldiers on July 12, is presented as a just cause for Israeli retaliation.

d) The resolution does not acknowledge the extensive war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Israel against the people of Lebanon. In this regard, Israel is indelibly responsible for "Crimes against Peace" as defined in Article 6a of the Nuremberg Charter: for "the planning, preparation, initiation or waging of a war of aggression, or a war in violation of international treaties". Israel is also responsible for "War Crimes" under Article 6b of the Nuremberg Charter .through the "plunder of public or private property, wanton destruction of cities, towns or villages, or devastation not justified by military necessity;" (Art. 6b). It is responsible for "Crimes against Humanity" through the perpetration of acts of : "murder,... and other inhumane acts committed against any civilian population, before or during the war..." (Article 6c).

e) The Resolution does not acknowledge another important dimension. Israel is in violation of the Geneva Convention by deliberately preventing the flow of humanitarian aid to the war zone: Article 15 of the Geneva Convention states in this regard that "parties to the conflict shall, without delay, take all possible measures to search for and collect the wounded and sick,..."

I know I'm late to the party, but here is the Conyers Report on Iraq

The entire report can be read here. I'm only posting the Summary part of it, which in my opinion, should be enough to look with contempt at this corrupt administration and their crooked and evil ways.

In preparing this Report we reviewed tens of thousands of documents and
materials, including testimony submitted at two hearings held by Rep. Conyers
concerning the Downing Street Minutes and warrantless domestic surveillance;
hundreds of media reports, articles, and books, including interviews with past and
present Administration employees and other confidential sources; scores of
government and non-profit reports, hearings, and analyses; numerous letters and
materials submitted to Rep. Conyers; staff interviews; relevant laws, cases,
regulations, and administrative guidelines; and the Administration ’s own words and
statements.

In brief, we have found that there is substantial evidence the President, the
Vice-President and other high ranking members of the Bush Administration misled
Congress and the American people regarding the decision to go to war in Iraq;
misstated and manipulated intelligence information regarding the justification for
such war; countenanced torture and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment in Iraq;
permitted inappropriate retaliation against critics of their Administration; and
approved domestic surveillance that is both illegal and unconstitutional. As further
detailed in the Report, there is evidence that these actions violate a number of
federal laws, including:
1-Making False Statements to Congress, for example, saying you have learned Iraq is
attempting to buy uranium from Niger, when you have been warned by the CIA
that this is not the case.
2- The War Powers Resolution and Misuse of Government Funds, for example,
redeploying troops and initiating bombing raids before receiving congressional
authorization.
3-Federal laws and international treaties prohibiting torture and cruel, inhuman, and
degrading treatment, for example, ordering detainees to be ghosted and removed,

Summary
This Minority Report has been produced at the direction of Representative John
Conyers, Jr., Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee. The Report is
divided into two principal parts.

NSA’s domestic surveillance programs, we have also found that members of the Bush Administration made a number of misleading statements regarding its operation and scope; the legal justifications proffered by the Bush Administration are constitutionally destabilizing; there is little evidence the programs have been beneficial in combating terrorism and may have affirmatively placed terrorism prosecutions at risk; and the programs appear to have designed and implemented in a manner designed to stifle legitimate concerns.

The Report rejects the frequent contention by the Bush Administration that
their pre-war conduct has been reviewed and they have been exonerated. No entity
has ever considered whether the Administration misled Americans about the decision
to go to war. The Senate Intelligence Committee has not yet conducted a review of
pre-war intelligence distortion and manipulation, while the presidentially appointed
Silberman-Robb Commission Report specifically cautioned that intelligence
manipulation “was not part of our inquiry. ” There has also not been any independent"

The National Security Act, for example, failing to keep all Members of the House
and Senate Intelligence Committees “fully and currently informed ” of intelligence
activities, such as the warrantless surveillance programs.

With regard to the FISA and the Fourth Amendment, for example intercepting thousands of
communications “to or from any person within the United States, ” without
obtaining a warrant. The Stored Communications Act of 1986 and the Communications Act of 1934, for example, obtaining millions of U.S. customer telephone records without obtaining
a subpoena or warrant, without customer consent, and outside of any applicable
“emergency exceptions. and tolerating and laying the legal ground work for their torture and
mistreatment. Federal laws concerning retaliating against witnesses and other individuals, for
example, demoting Bunnatine Greenhouse, the chief contracting officer at the
Army Corps of Engineers, because she exposed contracting abuses involving
Halliburton.

Federal requirements concerning leaking and other misuse of intelligence, for
example, failing to enforce the executive order requiring disciplining those who
leak classified information, whether intentional or not.
Federal regulations and ethical requirements governing conflicts of interest, for
example, then Attorney General John Aschcroft ’s being personally briefed on FBI
interviews concerning possible misconduct by Karl Rove even though Mr. Rove had
previously received nearly $750,000 in fees for political work on Mr. Ashcroft ’s
campaigns. Violating FISA requests, increasing available resources.
requiring the President to report on the pardon of any former or current officials
who could implicate the President or other Administration officials implicated by
pending investigations.
requiring the President to notify Congress upon the declassification of intelligence
information.
-) providing for enhanced protection for national security whistle-blowers.
-) strengthening the authority of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board.

We also make a number of additional recommendations within the jurisdiction
of the House Judiciary Committee to help respond to the ongoing threat of terrorism,
including:
-) increasing funding and resources for local law enforcement and first responders
and insuring that anti-terrorism funds are distributed based on risk, not politics.
-) implementing the 9-11 Commission Recommendations, including providing for
enhanced port, infrastructure, and chemical plant security and ensuring that all
loose nuclear materials are secured.

FISA and the criminal code contain the exclusive means for
conducting domestic warrantless surveillance and, to the extent that more
personnel are needed to process
inquiry concerning torture and other legal violations in Iraq; nor has there been an
independent review of the pattern of cover-ups and political retribution by the Bush
Administration against its critics, other than the very narrow and still ongoing inquiry
of Special Counsel Fitzgerald into the outing of Valerie Plame.

There also has been no independent review of the circumstances surrounding
the Bush Administration ’s domestic spying scandals. The Administration summarily
rejected all requests for special counsels, as well as reviews by the Department of
Justice and Department of Defense Inspector Generals. When the DOJ Office of
Professional Responsibility opened an investigation, the Bush Administration
effectively squashed it by denying the investigators security clearances. Neither the
House nor Senate Intelligence Committee have undertaken any sort of comprehensive
investigation, and the Bush Administration has sought to cut off any court review of
the NSA programs by repeatedly invoking the state secrets doctrine.

As a result of our findings, we have made a number of recommendations to
help prevent the recurrence of these events in the future, including:

-) obtaining enhanced investigatory authority to access documentary information and
testimony regarding the various allegations set forth in this Report.
-) reaffirming that
-) banning corporate trade with state sponsors of terrorism and eliminating sovereign
immunity protections for state sponsors of terrorism.
-) enhancing laws against wartime fraud.

Israel's war against the people of Lebanon

was Ok after the May 23rd meeting between Bush and Olmert, or so says this article.

Three days after the May 23 summit between Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and U.S. President George W. Bush, a car bomb killed two officials of Islamic Jihad in the Lebanese city of Sidon.

Immediately, Lebanese officials, including Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, denounced the murder of brothers Nidal and Mahmoud Majzoub and pointed the finger at Israel as the prime suspect. On June 10, a man named Mahmoud Rafeh was arrested for the car bombing and, according to the Lebanese army, confessed that he was a Mossad agent.
Rafeh, a 59-year-old retired police officer, belonged to a “terror network working for the Israeli Mossad,” which had smuggled a booby-trapped door into Lebanon from Israel for use in the assassination,
the Lebanese army said.

In retrospect, the Majzoub assassination looks to have been part of a larger U.S.-Israeli strategy – following the Olmert-Bush summit – to encourage a tit-for-tat escalation of violence that would ratchet up pressure on Palestinian and Lebanese militants – and through them their allies in Syria and Iran.

As Iraq continues to spiral towards civil war, I stumbled upon two pieces of information that pretty much summarized what the U.S is doing to Iraq. 1-First, it is this one, detailing the actions of an army unit as they raped and killed a fourteen year old iraqi girl. (These soldiers And please dont tell me that these are just a few bad apples; that was the excuse given when Abu Ghrabi torture scandal) are less than human refuse. Simple as that. It must be said that the raping, killing and abusing of Iraqis by the occupying forces are the standard ways (American and British way) of doing things.

The second item was this eye-opening documenatary about Iraq's missing Billions. Yeap, you read that right: BILLIONS!. Dont let no one fool you, the U.S went into Iraq to loot the Loop (as we say in the Bronx). They went out there for resources (mainly oil and gas). Dont let that "freedom" and "democracy" BS fooled you. Bush and the powers he represent could care less about Democracy. To those people, the only thing that matters is money, money and more money.

Read this disgrateful story about

a controversial stem- cell therapy where umbilical cord tissue from new-born babies is injected into the body to make women (people in general look pretty).

Look into the evil mindset of this people:

"She doesn't care if the treatment is expensive, involves babies and is so controversial that it is not allowed to be performed in this country - among her well-heeled friends, this is the ultimate new elixir of youth. "

That's the western world for you. Where women dont care that life is being destroyed so long as they get their beauty fix.

Another reason why I'm against stem cell research:

"Stem-cell therapy has been big business for beauty doctors since medics discovered the strong healing and rejuvenating potential of stem cells for medical conditions such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. But there has also been a furious ethical debate."

Go read the whole thing.....and remember, before going to vote for a politician, it'd be helpful to find out where she/he stands on this crucial issue of stem-cell research.

Dont believe the zionist propaganda

There were no Weapons at Qana.

There were no Hezbollah rockets and no Hezbollah militants in the village of Qana that was leveled by the Israelis on Sunday night, according to village residents and Red Cross workers stationed in the area. Another apologist fabrication to justify Israeli atrocities has been exposed as a total fraud. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert claimed Sunday Hezbollah were, "hiding places for rockets inside the village and the village itself is a safe haven for those who launch rockets."
